Manchester United are reportedly battling with Tottenham Hotspur and Everton over a deal to sign Dinamo Zagreb striker Dion Beljo, as per TEAMtalk.
Since joining the Croatian giants from Augsburg last year, the 24-year-old has showcased his goal-scoring prowess. Last season, he scored 38 goals and registered six assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.
Moreover, he guided his side to win the HNL and the Croatian Cup. This season, Beljo has continued to display impressive performances, scoring 10 goals and notching up three assists in seven league appearances.
Having shown glimpses of his qualities for Dinamo Zagreb, the striker has secured his place in the Croatian national team.
Now, TEAMtalk claim that Man Utd are considering signing a new striker as Joshua Zirkzee’s future remains uncertain and have identified Beljo as a serious option.
After monitoring his development closely, they have made checks over a potential January transfer. However, Michael Carrick’s side will have to overcome fierce competition to finalise the operation as Tottenham and Everton have also kept a close eye on his performances.
Moreover, the City Football Group, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Leeds United have also expressed their interest in purchasing the forward, valued at around £13m by Transfermarkt.
Battle
With the player’s existing deal set to run until 2030, Dinamo Zagreb are in a strong position to demand a sizable amount of money if they are forced to cash-in.
Beljo is a 6ft 5in tall left-footed striker. He is quick, strong, good in the air and is efficient in finishing off his chances. He is a talented player and possesses high potential.
Therefore, Beljo would be a shrewd acquisition for Man Utd, Everton or Tottenham should any of those clubs purchase him in January or next summer.
Following Beto’s departure, Everton have been left with Thierno Barry as the only striker option. So, the Toffees are seemingly planning to buy a new striker.
On the other hand, with Richarlison finding himself on the periphery under Roberto De Zerbi, it appears Tottenham are seeking a new No.9.
It is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club, the Old Trafford club or the Merseyside club eventually make a move to sign Beljo.
