Everton interested in signing Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi

Everton are eighth in the Premier League standings seven matches into the campaign and despite winning only two fixtures so far, David Moyes’ side is expected to make a push to finish in the European competition spots ahead of next season.
It is likely that the board will look to improve its squad depth and quality during the January transfer window and the Toffees could do well with some reinforcements in a number of areas around the pitch, not least the attacking department.
According to TEAMtalk, Everton have shortlisted Club Brugge forward Nicolo Tresoldi as a possible addition to their roster after his excellent start to the campaign with the Belgian side. The 22-year-old is valued by the Belgian side at £42 million.
Nicolo Tresoldi’s stock is tremendously on the rise as Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have also been keen on his purchase, so Everton will face some serious competition for the player, who bagged a Champions League hat-trick at Inter Milan last week.
Everton’s desire to sign Tresoldi a tall order
Considering his fast start to the season, Everton’s interest in Nicolo Tresoldi is far from a surprise. The German U21 international is very clinical in the box, strong in the air and creates chances for his teammates high up the pitch too.
Having said that, he would be an excellent addition to the Toffees’ roster and potentially trump Thierno Barry to a primary role in the team. However, given Arsenal’s interest in him, Everton are likely to fall short for Tresoldi in all likelihood.
Besides offering him a winning project and the opportunity to play in the Champions League, Arsenal’s recent lack of reliance on Viktor Gyokeres means Tresoldi can also play regular minutes as their striker should he join the Londoners.
With his playing time and role at Arsenal unlikely to be a huge issue, as can some times be the case when a player joins a much bigger club, all things point towards the Gunners being in pole position to trump Everton to Tresoldi’s purchase.
It will be interesting to see which other offensive names Everton have on their wish-list ahead of next year.
