Liverpool & Arsenal step up efforts to sign Aleksey Batrakov

Liverpool and Arsenal have reportedly accelerated their efforts to sign Aleksey Batrakov, as per TEAMtalk.

Despite suffering a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Manchester City earlier this month, the Reds have bounced back by winning their last three matches across all competitions.

Currently, Andoni Iraola’s side are fifth in the Premier League table with 12 points from seven games. On the other hand, they are third in the Champions League table, having won all three matches.

Meanwhile, with the winter window approaching fast, Liverpool have seemingly started exploring options to strengthen the squad and continue the rebuild under Iraola’s guidance.

Now, TEAMtalk state that Liverpool have expressed their interest in Batrakov after being impressed by his recent eye-catching performances.

The Reds sent scouts to watch him in action for Galatasaray against LOSC Lille in the Champions League, where he helped his side win the game 4-2 by putting his name on the scoresheet.

Like Liverpool, Arsenal have stepped up their interest in Batrakov as they also kept a close eye on his performance in midweek. Moreover, Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have been monitoring his situation closely before making a potential swoop.

The report state that having recently signed Batrakov, Galatasaray have no intention of parting ways with him, with his existing deal set to run until 2031. However, he has a £50m release clause.

Batrakov likes to be deployed in the creative midfield position but is also comfortable in the box-to-box role. Furthermore, he can provide cover on the left wing if needed.

The 21-year-old showcased his productivity for Lokomotiv Moscow last term, making 27 goal contributions across all competitions. He has even enjoyed a bright start for Galatasaray this season.

With Florian Wirtz displaying inconsistent performances, Liverpool are seemingly planning to upgrade the CAM position. On the other hand, Arsenal already have Martin Odegaard, Eberechi Eze, Mikel Merino and Max Dowman as No.10 options; therefore, they don’t need to add further depth to this area.

Nevertheless, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club or the Merseyside club eventually make a concrete approach to secure the Galatasaray star’s services in January or next summer.
