Liverpool prioritising signing Monaco’s Lamine Camara

Liverpool are reportedly prioritising signing AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, as per transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg.
After being impressed by the 22-year-old’s performances for Metz, the Red and Whites decided to purchase him a couple of years ago, and he has now established himself as an undisputed starter.
Last season, he made seven goal contributions in 31 appearances across all competitions. Having proven his worth in club football, Camara has secured his place in the Senegal national team’s starting line-up.
After being impressed by his performances, Chelsea attempted to buy him last summer to replace Enzo Fernandez. However, Monaco ultimately blocked the transfer.
This season, Camara has continued to display promising performances, scoring twice and registering a solitary assist in 12 appearances in all tournaments.
Now, on X, Plettenberg reports that Liverpool are planning to reinforce the midfield department next year and have identified Camara as a priority target.
Apart from the Monaco star, the Merseyside club are also keen on Alex Scott of AFC Bournemouth. Andoni Iraola’s side even hold Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha in high regard, but he isn’t a primary target.
Camara to Liverpool

“Lamine Camara (Monaco) and Alex Scott (Bournemouth) are two players on Liverpool’s shortlist for the central midfield position. Liverpool also hold Felix Nmecha of Borussia Dortmund in high regard. However, he is currently NOT a priority target.”
Camara is valued at around £46m by Transfermarkt and still has a contract until 2029. Therefore, Monaco are in a strong position to demand a big fee to sell him.
The youngster is a defensive midfielder by trait but is also comfortable in the box-to-box role. Furthermore, he has played in the CAM position for Senegal.
Camara is quick, strong, technically sound, can play threading passes between the lines, and is efficient in defensive contributions. He is a highly talented player and possesses the potential to reach the top. Therefore, the Monaco star might be a great coup for Liverpool should they purchase him.
Despite selling Curtis Jones to Inter Milan this summer, Iraola’s side decided not to buy a new midfielder. So, they currently have Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Trey Nyoni as deeper midfield options.
It is going to be interesting to see whether the Merseyside club eventually opt to reinforce the midfield department by purchasing the Senegalese international.
