Everton and Tottenham Hotspur interested in signing Marcus Rashford from Manchester United

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford had a terrific spell on loan at Barcelona last season but has failed to replicate the same form under Michael Carrick this time around at Old Trafford, with no returns in the final third so far in the campaign.
Carrick has used Matheus Cunha and occasionally, even Patrick Dorgu ahead of the English international down the left flank, and with Rashford’s high wages, the Red Devils might be open to parting company with him for the right price.
Ekrem Konur has reported that Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are both interested in signing Rashford from Man United, and would be prepared to get a deal over the line as early as during the January transfer window as both clubs eye new forwards.
On Transfermarkt, Rashford is valued at £29 million. His recent form is responsible for the drop in his valuation compared to the £40 million the Red Devils were seeking earlier in the year. It will be interesting to see what his actual price tag is this winter.
Spurs could trump Everton to Rashford’s signing
Tottenham Hotspur are expected to be in a stronger position for Marcus Rashford’s purchase from Manchester United in the January transfer window, leading Everton, as the 28-year-old’s sky-high salary demands may exceed the Toffees’ budget.
Having said that, Spurs also have room for a left winger in their team. With Omar Marmoush likely to play as a striker in the longer run owing to Dominic Solanke’s poor form, Rashford could play regularly for them on the flank as Xavi Simons is injured.
Under Roberto De Zerbi, who likes to employ a high-intensity and dynamic brand of offensive football, Rashford could find his form once again. Plus, Spurs have the finances to meet his salary demands and afford his asking price as well in the winter.
It remains to be seen whether Michael Carrick would be prepared to trim his squad depth mid-season but with Rashford not adding much utility on the pitch, it would not be a surprise if Manchester United sell him in January, possibly before his valuation drops further by the summer transfer window.
