REPORTS: Chelsea Could Be In Hot Water Again With FIFA
Porto are threatening to take Chelsea to FIFA over their pursuit of Alvaro Pereira, according to reports.
It was public knowledge that Chelsea wanted to bring the South American to Stamford Bridge this summer but the clubs were unable to agree a fee for the wide-man leaving Pereira to remain in Portugal.
The Sun says president Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa has been left fuming after he suggested that Chelsea made a direct approach to the 25-year old and are considering their options over the matter. He said the Blues had approached Pereira “without Porto’s authorisation. They made him an offer.”
This is not the first time Chelsea have been accused of illegally approaching players. The club were fined for their approach over Ashley Cole before they eventually signed him back in 2006 and were even banned from transfer dealings over their purchase of Gael Kakuta which was eventually successful appealed with the young Frenchman’s contract deemed void.
