Madrid star welcomes Manchester United interest
By Football Talk.
Real Madrid star Mahamadou Diarra says he is flattered to be linked with a club like Manchester United and will discuss his future at the end of the season. Today’s Spanish newspapers have linked Manchester United with both Real Madrid midifielders Mahamadou and Lassana Diarra, and both have fallen out of favour at the Bernabeu this season.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s first choice is thought to be Lassana, but his £15m price-tag may force Fergie to look at the cheaper alternative in Mali international Mahamadou as he looks to strengthen ahead of next season. Ferguson will be confident he can get his man after the Real Madrid defensive midfielder told Sky Sports:
“I am very flattered to be linked with a prestigious club like Manchester United, ““They are a top team and on a same level as Madrid. The Premier League is also the top league in the world, so let’s wait and see.”
“I am not playing a lot and at the end of the season I will discuss my situation with all parties and a decision will be taken.”
“I want to play week in, week out like all top players.”
At 28 years old Mahamadou has bags of experience and as a well built 6ft athlete, he would have no problems fitting in to the physical nature of the premier league. He is surely too good to stay and warm the Madrid bench, but if he does become available Ferguson should expect a huge amount of competition from many of Europe’s top clubs for his signature.
