Diarra flattered with United link
By Ross Mackiewicz.
Mali international Mahamadou Diarra has willingly opened the door to a summer move to The Premier League after describing England’s premier competition as the best league in the world with Manchester United touted as possible suitors for the midfield anchorman. The Real Madrid star has been seemingly out of sorts this season for the Spanish club only making 12 La Liga appearances after losing his place to name sake Lassana Diarra. Reports earlier this week have suggested that Diarra (Mahamadou) is a prime target for Sir Alex Ferguson this summer as the United boss aims to bolster his squad for yet another charge on Domestic and European fronts next season. The 28 year old has admitted he is flattered to be linked with a club with the stature of The Red Devils.
“I am very flattered to be linked with a prestigious club like Manchester United. They are a top team and on a same level as Madrid. The Premier League is also the top league in the world, so let’s wait and see.”
The African ace has conceded that he has found it hard this season with a lack of first team action for Los Blancos.
“I am not playing a lot and at the end of the season I will discuss my situation with all parties and a decision will be taken.”
“I want to play week in, week out like all top players.”
Speculation in France has also suggested that French giants Paris St Germain are also keen on Diarra who they see as a readymade replacement for Ex-Chelsea man Claude Makelele who is retiring at the end of the campaign.
Do you think Diarra is the man to help rebuild United’s ageing midfield? Let us know.
