“By joining Manchester United I have achieved everything I wanted”
By Football Talk.
Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has dismissed speculation about his future and says he intends to remain at Old Trafford next season and by joining United he achieved everything he wanted in the game. Berbatov joined United from Tottenham in a £30m deal in 2008 and has a contract until 2012, but the 29-year-old had an up-and-down year at Old Trafford last season hitting just 12 goals and put in some below-par displays while Wayne Rooney was out injured.
Reports have suggested Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to cut his losses and is willing to listen to offers for the Bulgarian, but Berbatov wants to stay in Manchester and is tired of being asked where he will be playing next season.
“My goal is to remain with United, the best team in the world, and to see out my contract with the club. “I know I have the qualities to do so. By joining Manchester United I have achieved everything I wanted.
“I want to ask why every second question I get is about where I am going next year.
“I wonder why the media don’t wish me luck for my next year with United, but ask me where I am going.”
Manchester United fans are divided on whether Berbatov should remain at United. Some see him as a lazy player who doesn’t fit in with the United work ethic, while others see his talent and feel he deserves another chance to fulfil his potential. With Sir Alex Ferguson being linked with moves for the likes of Benzema and Suarez, Berbatov could see himself moved on despite his desire to stay.
