Cech Socked With Derby Game
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech admits he cannot remember the last time he played with nine men for an entire half of a football match.
Jose Bosingwa and Didier Drogba were both sent off in the first half against local rivals QPR, but despite the two man advantage the Chelsea stopper was delighted with his sides effort who marginally lost 1-0. However, Cech can’t recall having to play with nine men before and felt like he was more like a sweeper than a goalkeeper, but feels the blues deserved something from the game.
“I have never before played with nine men for such a long spell of time, at least I can’t recall a situation like that,” he told the club’s official website.
“In the end it could have been even worse because we had seven yellow cards and anything could happen.
“It’s a shame we did not win because in the previous fixtures we were in good shape. However, we started slowly.
“Under the circumstances in which the match was played, our performances with nine players on the pitch in the second half was fantastic and we deserved to equalise.
“After the interval I was rather a sweeper than a goalkeeper as I was outside of the box almost all the time trying to distribute passes.”
