Galatasaray president Unal Aysal revealed Chelsea striker Didier Drogba is unlikely to join the club after admitting his personality could cause problems at the Turk Telekom Arena.
The Turkish club was one of several European outfits linked with the 33-year old, but Aysal was quick to distance himself from the speculation. Speaking to Milliyet Spor, Aysal said:
“Drogba is another option. He’s a very good player and could be a useful player for Galatasaray.
“But my manager hasn’t recommended him to me yet. But if you want my opinion, Drog would be the last option.
“When I look at the information given to me about him, he wouldn’t fit in with the team. I don’t mean in terms of cost, I mean in terms of personality.”
Aysal believes the arrival of Drogba would do more harm than good.
“Drog is pushy, aggressive by nature,” he claimed. “Such a star would change the mould of the team.
“Perhaps in due course, we could bring him in. I don’t want to be transparent with names, we may not succeed in bringing them here.
“I don’t want to disappoint the fans.”
Galatasaray, who only managed an eighth-place finish last term, their worst final position in over 20 years.
