Are Liverpool Becoming A One Man Team Again?

I’ve faced this question a few times this week, a few Tweets going out to me asking me if Luis Suarez was under a bit too much pressure in getting the goals, given the fact that we’re ever so reliant on the Uruguayan this season.

So as usual, I bringing you guys the facts. The fact is, that Luis Suarez has scored 7 goals in all competitions thus far. And the other fact being, right now, Liverpool have scored 19 goals (including 2 own goals) in the season so far.

So I’m going to compare his stats with that of Fernando Torres, pretty much the definition of being a one man team for Liverpool FC in recent times. As much as I despise the fact that he left us in such fashion, I respect him as a player, given the fact that he carried the team almost by himself sometimes, we were often devastated to have him out for weeks, just an epitome of how important he was at that time.

In his most prolific season for Liverpool, he managed to rack up a total of 22 goals. I’m going to by using just Premier League stats for him because it’s simpler. In that very season, Liverpool scored a total of 61 goals. So basically, he racked up around 36% of all of Liverpool’s goals that season.

As of this very moment, Luis Suarez has scored 37% of the goals so far. So it looks like the Reds are becoming over-reliant on the Uruguayan. I’m afraid that Liverpool need more goalscorers from elsewhere, whether it be from Andy Carroll or simply from the midfield.
