The agent of reported Chelsea target Bruno Cortes has confirmed English interest in his client, but stopped short of naming the interested party.
The agent of reported Chelsea target Bruno Cortes has confirmed English interest in his client, but stopped short of naming the interested party.
Cortes has been in impressive form this season for Botafogo, who have joint ownership rights over the player with Nova Iguacu. His form has seen him break into the Brazilian national team set up, earning his first cap during Brazil’s 2-0 defeat of Argentina in September.
The left back has attracted interest from clubs in Europe and Chelsea are thought to be tracking the 24-year-old closely. Flavio Trivella, Cortes’ agent, has confirmed contact has been made with an English club but refused to confirm reports it was Chelsea. However Trivella did confirm the club in question would face competition for his clients signature:
“I had contact from an English club, but I cannot say the name,” Trivella told Calciomercato.com.
“However, it is one of the many teams interested in Cortes.”
One major stumbling block over any potential move is the fact Cortes would struggle to secure a work permit due to his limited international experience.
