Spanish Hitman Soldado Touted
Liverpool have been long-term admirers of Valencia striker Roberto Soldado and were rumoured to have had a bid turned down in the summer. With Liverpool’s striking problems this season, it’s thought the Merseysiders will renew their interest this month.
However, reports today have claimed Chelsea are also monitoring the 26-year-old with Andre Villas-Boas keen to add striking reinforcements to his squad. Nicolas Anelka has already departed to China, while Didier Drogba has also been offered record-breaking wages to move to the far East.
Soldado has been in prolific form for Valencia in recent seasons and is finally breaking into the Spanish national team set-up, and it’s believed he has a £30m release clause in his contract.
Fernando Reges tracked
Porto midfielder Fernando Reges is also wanted by both Chelsea and Liverpool. The Reds are on the look-out for a midfield anchor-man following injury to Lucas, while Chelsea are also keen to add cover to their defensive midfield department amid fears over the long-term fitness of the injured Michael Essien.
Fernando, affectionately nicknamed as the ‘beast’ by his team-mates due to his imposing frame and attitude on the pitch, is a no-nonsense midfielder who would add steal to the middle of the park.
Porto are reported to be willing to listen to offers for the 26-year-old Brazilian and may be willing to do business for a fee in the region of £12m.
