Arsenal Transfer News: £8m Arshavin Deal Agreed?
The Daily Star reports that Arsenal have agreed an £8m deal with Zenit st Petersburg for Russian forward Andrey Arshavin that will see him move in the summer.
On the day when one Arsenal flop declared his intention to remain with the club, another could be heading for the exit door this summer.
The Daily Star are reporting that Zenit St Petersburg have agreed an £8m deal with the Gunners for Andrey Arshavin, which will see the Russian move back to his homeland in the summer.
The Star claims that Arsenal are prepared to cut their loses with Arshavin and sell him back to Zenit, after paying them £15m for the Russian captain three years ago.
After a promising start to life in North London, Arshavin has been hugely disappointing over the last 18 months and it honestly looks like he’s not interested anymore. A move is probably best for both club and player, and with Arshavin having only 12 months left on his contract come the summer, £8m would represent a decent return for an out-of-form 30-year-old.

The question must be asked though, if this report is accurate and a deal has already been agreed for the summer, can we rely on Arshavin to put in a good shift over the next few months?
If he knows he’s off at the end of the season his mind may be elsewhere and i think if he’s going to leave, the move should happen now so we can get a replacement in early. January is never an easy time to buy but Arsenal need fresh blood now and with Arshavin not performing, we should try and push through the deal this month.
