Liverpool and Tottenham played out a 0-0 draw at Anfield last night, in a game that saw the return of Luis Suarez following his eight game ban. Here are out player ratings:
Liverpool Player Ratings
Pepe Reina 7 – Great late save to deny Bale an unlikely winner, and the Spaniard was a steady presence throughout.
Martin Kelly 6.5 – Defended reasonably well and forced Friedel into a decent save with a long range effort.
Martin Skrtel 6.5 – Kept Adebayor extremely quiet but nasty tackle on Bale blotted his scorecard.
Daniel Agger 7 – Along with Skrtel, dealt comfortably with the Tottenham attack.
Glen Johnson 6.5 – Put in a decent display at left back and dealt with the dangerous Kyle Walker well when he got forward.
Jay Spearing 6 – Worked tirelessly but passing let him down, with several poor forward passes losing Liverpool possession.
Charlie Adam 6 – Not his best display in a Liverpool shirt. Adam was neat in possession but failed to create going forward.
Steven Gerrard 7 – Not the all-action display we’re used to seeing, but still a threat on the ball. Always looking to make things happen.
Dirk Kuyt 5.5 – Disappointing from the Dutchman. Struggled to get in to the game and eventually subbed for Suarez.
Craig Bellamy 6 – Quiet game from Bellamy. Not up to his recent performance level as he struggled to make things happen.
Andy Carroll 7 – Getting more confident by the game. Carroll’s work-rate was very good and won the majority of his headers. Wasted a couple of half chances though. Overall, much better from the big-man.
SUBS
Luis Suarez 6.5 – Looked dangerous whenever on the ball, but wasted a great chance to win it when he headed straight at Friedel from close range. Also booked for a nasty kick on Parker.
Stewart Downing 5 – Had no major impact on the game.
Tottenham Player Ratings
Brad Freidel 7 – Made some decent stops from Kelly and Suarez, and looked an assured presence at the back for Spurs.
Kyle Walker 7 – Great display by the young full back. One of Tottenham’s better performers on the night as he dealt very well with the Liverpool attack.
Ledley King 7.5 – Another terrific performance from King. Held the Spurs back line together as the home side searched for a winner.
Michael Dawson 8 – Excellent. Dealt with the awkward Carroll well and looks like getting back to his best after a long injury lay-off.
Benoit Assou-Ekotto 6.5 – Steady from BAE. Always willing to get forward and worked hard to keep Liverpool at bay.
Scott Parker 8.5 (MOTM) – Superb performance once-again from Parker. Threw his body at everything to deny Liverpool and worked tirelessly throughout the match.
Jake Livermore 6 – Didn’t really impress himself on the game and relied on Parker to clean up in midfield.
Luka Modric 5.5 – Very quiet from the Croatian. Not at his best at all and saw little of the ball.
Gareth Bale 6 – Spurned a great chance to win it late on, but his weak shot was saved easily by Reina. Failed to get on the ball and booked for diving.
Niko Kranjcar 6.5 – Had a decent early shot on goal but faded somewhat as the game went on. Didn’t take him chance to show Redknapp he’s worthy of a first team place.
Emmanuel Adebayor 5 – Didn’t work as hard as he should have been playing up front on his own. Saw little of the ball and was subbed for Saha.
SUBS
Louis Saha 6 – Faired slightly better than Adebayor in wining a couple of headers against Skrtel and Agger, but had little time to really make an impact.
Danny Rose N/A – No time.
