Eden Hazard: Wenger Finally Reveals Interest – But Will He Pay What It Takes?
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has finally confirmed his interest in long-term target Eden Hazard. Find out what Wenger had to say about the Belgian winger here.
Last summer there was one player every Arsenal fan was reading about on the internet and in the papers: Eden Hazard, the exciting young Belgian winger who had just helped Lille to the double in France.
However, a transfer didn’t materialise, and it seemed all hope was lost during January when the Daily Mail reported that Chelsea were close to finalising a move for the 21-year-old; but as it stands, Hazard is still at Lille, at least until the summer.
In an uncharacteristic move from Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, he has expressed his interest in the Belgian. The Sun quoted Wenger as saying:
“I like Eden Hazard a lot, and for many reasons. His creative ability, his talent for unbalancing opponents, his vision of the game, and his consummate skill in making the final pass all make him an in-demand player. Hazard has what it takes to play for a top-level club, and Arsenal are a top-level club.” Wenger was quoted as saying in the Sun.
As an attacking midfielder or winger, Hazard would naturally slot into the Arsenal side in place of Aaron Ramsey down the middle, leaving Gervinho and Walcott (or Oxlade-Chamberlain) on the wings and van Persie up front, with Song and Wilshere deep in midfield.
Although this reads like a potential league-winning side, the price-tag required to land the precocious talent would definitely dissuade Arsenal and it remains to be seen if Wenger is ready to smash the club’s transfer record.
Do you think Arsene will pay what it takes to land Hazard?
