Redknapp eyes three new faces after ruling out Raul move
Written by David Moore-Crouch.
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has ruled out a move for Real Madrid great Raul. Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Redknapp played down links with the Spaniard after revealing that he has already identified the three players he wants to strengthen his squad.
Raul is expected to close the curtains on his illustrious career at the Bernabeu later this week and has been heavily linked with the North London Club. However, it seems more likely that the forward will join German outfit Schalke as opposed to making the move into the premier league.
Whilst hosing down speculation of a move for Raul, Redknapp once again spoke of his admiration for Brazilian Luis Fabiano. The Sevilla striker has been linked with a move to Spurs since the beginning of the summer.
In the interview Redknapp said:
“I Like Fabiano. I’ve got other targets, but I’d be a liar if I said I didn’t like him, he’s a top player. Raul is a great player at Real Madrid, but I wouldn’t think he would be a player we would bring to Tottenham. Financially, I don’t think it would be possible to do a deal like that.”
Tottenham are facing their first ever campaign in the Champions League and it is seen as imperative that Redknapp strengthens his squad before the Play-Offs at the end of August. Redknapp has already pinpointed the areas that he needs to improve if Tottenham are to challenge for the title as well as mount a successful Champions League campaign.
“We need three players and I know the three players we want. If we can get them I think we’ll be good next year. We’ve still got work to do. There are a couple of positions where we could just make ourselves that extra little bit better.”
What areas do Spurs need to improve if they are to have a successful campaign?
