Arsenal Youngster Willing To Wait For Move

Arsenal youngster Sanchez Watt is ready to go out on loan once again in order to continue his development.

The 21-year-old spent time with Sheffield Wednesday in the early stages of last season before spending the second half of last term at Crawley Town, helping both sides eventually gain promotion.

Watt has admitted the short-term loans were valuable experiences and helped him mature as a player, and while he’ wants to go out on loan once again he’s willing to wait for the right opportunity to come along. He told Arsenal.com:

“I want to go somewhere where I’m learning from it. If the deal’s right, my agents and Arsène Wenger will tell me. I’m waiting for the right club,”

“Last season’s loan spells were about maturing. You’ve got to work hard for your place every week. You’re on your own. You have to grow up.

“We were fighting for promotion and every game and training session was vital. You always had to be switched on. It was good for me.”

The former England Under-19 international has been in hot form for Arsenal’s Under-21 side so far this season, having scored four goals in just three games.

He’s hoping this form has caught the eye of manager Arsene Wenger and he’ll be given a chance with the first team against Coventry in the Captial One Cup next Wednesday at the Emirates.

“Anything can happen. I have to be ready,” he said. “I’ve got to keep playing like I could be picked for the next game. I’m going to keep working hard and see what happens.”

Watt is certainly a talent but at 21, you’ve got to start to wonder whether he’ll ever make it at Arsenal. If he was good enough he would have been knocking on the first team door by now. I can’t help but think he’ll be off on a more permanent basis next summer.
