Bony To Replace Torres?
European champions Chelsea have been told to ditch Fernando Torres and sign Ivory Coast powerhouse Wilfried Bony by one of their own players – Tomas Kalas.
Chelsea have been told to ditch Fernando Torres and sign Ivory Coast powerhouse Wilfried Bony – by one of their own players, according to the Daily Mail.
Torres has struggled to replicate the form that persuaded Blues owner Roman Abramovich to splash out £50m on his services back in January 2011, and there have been question marks over the Spaniard’s future.
Chelsea have been linked with a host of strikers in recent weeks but according to Blues defender Tomas Kalas – who’s on loan at Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem – it’s time they ditched Torres and sign his new team-mate Wilfried Bony to lead the line at Stamford Bridge.
‘Chelsea need a player like Wilifried Bony at the moment. Torres is always moving and works hard, but he is not strong enough to lead the line. I’m sorry for Torres, but that’s my personal opinion.
‘Bony has so much quality. It’s incredible how strong he is and he’s excellent on the ball, too. I can understand why he has been linked with Chelsea and other clubs.
‘It will be impossible for Vitesse to hold on to him if he keeps this up. Perhaps we’ll play together at Chelsea in the future. That would be great.
‘We haven’t spoken about a transfer yet, but it would be nice to play alongside him at Stamford Bridge in a while.’
Kalas is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail
Bony is a powerful striker who has drawn comparisons to fellow countryman, and Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba. The 23-year-old scored his 11th and 12th goals of the season during a 2-0 win over Ajax at the Amsterdam Arena on Saturday, on the same afternoon that Torres put in another disappointing display as the Blues were held by Swansea.

Abramovich seems to have his sights set on more renowned names (Falcao anyone?) but if they can’t land the Columbian, they could do worse than looking to Vitesse for the impressive Bony, who would be available for a lot less and has the potential to be ‘the new Drogba’.
