With the January transfer window now open for business we’ll be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer gossip. Today, Victor Wanyama rules out late move.
Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama has ruled out making a deadline day move away from the club amid reported interest from Manchester United, according to Sky Sports News.
The Kenyan powerhouse has been in superb form for the Glasgow giants since making the move from Belgian outfit Beerschot in 2011, with his goal-scoring display against Barcelona a particular highlight.
This has lead to speculation over the midfielders future at Parkhead with Sky Sports claiming Premier League leaders Manchester United are among the clubs linked with a move before the transfer window shuts on Thursday night.
However, Wanyama has played down reports linking him with a late move with the 21-year-old insisting he will remain with Celtic to compete in the latter stages of the Champions League during the second half of the season. However, The Kenyan international did leave the door open to a possible summer move to United by claiming he will consider his future at the end of the season.
Speaking after Celtic’s 4-1 win over Kilmarnock on Wednesday night, Wanyama is quoted as saying by Sky Sports:
“I can confirm to you that I will be at Celtic,”
“We are playing well and our Champions League dream is on right now, so I am looking forward to the big game against Juventus.
“A lot has been said about my intended move but I have not given it much thought and even my manager feels I should play until the end of the season for Celtic.
“Then, from that point, the doors can be open for a move.”
