Arsenal In Last Ditch Talks To Sign Venezuelan Defender
Reports today claim Arsena boss Arsene Wenger is in talks with Atletico Bilbao to sign centre-back Fernando Amorebieta, who is said to be available for around £5m
Don’t give up hope yet Arsenal fans! Things are hotting up as we appraoch the final hours of the transfer window and we could yet see some new faces coming to the Emirates before the 11pm deadline.
Goal.com reporting that we’re in talks with Spanish outfit Athletic Bilbao to sign centre-back Fernando Amorebieta.
After the shambolic defensive show against Liverpool last night it seems the boss has decided to rush out and buy a defender to help shore up our back-line, and Goal.com claim Arsene Wenger has identified the 27-year-old Venezuelan international.
The report claims Amorebieta is out of contract in the summer and Bilbao have withdrawn their latest contract offer meaning they may very well be up for selling, with Goal suggesting a deal of between £4m and £6m could be agreed today.

There is little doubt we need reinforcements and the defence should be a priority after recent displays. Add to that the unfortunate injury to Kieran Gibbs, a new defender would be a godsend.
If we sign do sign Amorebieta, it’s likely captain Vermaelen will be deployed at left-back in Gibbsy’s absence as Andre Santos has been less than impressive in recent weeks.
Fingers crossed Arsene can get something done. Not long now…..
