Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal are linked with Isco.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made the signing of Malaga’s £30m-rated play-maker Isco his top priority this summer, according to the Daily Star.
It’s been another disappointing season to be an Arsenal fan. Knocked out of the League Cup by lowly Bradford, out the FA Cup to Blackburn, struggling to finish in the top four and recently knocked out of the Champions League to Bayern mean it’s now been a long eight years since we last won a trophy.
However, there could be hope yet Gooners with the Star claiming that the boss will be given £70m to rejuvenate his squad with this summer and suggest he’s finally ready to spend what’s required to bring in some top quality players ahead of next season.
According to the report, top of his priority list is Malaga’s attacking midfielder Isco, who’s become one of Europe’s hottest properties in recent months after a string of impressive display’s in La Liga while he’s also been an important figure in helping the club reach the quarter finals of the Champions League for the first time in their history.
The 20-year-old is already a full Spanish international having made his debut last month during a 3-2 win over Uruguay and the Star suggest that Arsenal chief scout Steve Rowley has been making regular checks on the youngsters progress this season while former Malaga defender Nacho Monreal has apparently given a ‘glowing report’ on Isco and says he’d be a good fit in our team.

Personally, an attacking midfielder wouldn’t be my priority this summer. In fact, it might be the last thing I’d be looking to buy. A keeper, centre back, defensive midfielder and striker are all more important in my eyes. But if we’re going to spend £30m on an attacking midfielder there aren’t many better available at present than Isco.
He’s pure quality and would certain add something to the team, my only concern would be how he’d fit in alongside Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla if we did manage to lure him to the Emirates this summer.
