United Scouting £8m-Rated Brazilian
Manchester United have renewed their interest in Brazilian left-back Sandro as Sir Alex Ferguson continues to search for a long-term successor for Patrice Evra.
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Manchester United are scouting a Brazilian defender.
Manchester United have renewed their interest in Brazilian left-back Sandro as Sir Alex Ferguson continues to search for a long-term successor for Patrice Evra, according to the Daily Mail.
Evra has been with United for over seven years and has racked up over 300 appearances during a trophy-laden career at Old Trafford. The 31-year-old has returned to his old form this season creating talk of a possible contract extension, with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2014.
However, the Mail claim that United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has reservations about the Frenchman’s defensive capabilities and has lined up a number of potential replacements including Sandro, with United scouts understood to have been in the stands to watch the £8m-rated Brazilian during Porto’s recent Champions League clash with Malaga.
The newspaper suggests that Everton’s Leighton Baines remains an option but the Premier League leaders have been put off by his £15m valuation.
United signed Alexander Buttner from Vitesse Arnhem last summer but the 24-year-old has failed to force his way into the starting eleven on a regular basis, only making two league starts so far this season.
