Man Utd vs Crystal Palace Preview: Team News, Likely Line-Ups & Predicted Score
Manchester United welcome newly promoted Crystal Palace to Old Trafford for Saturday’s early kick-off. Here’s a preview with team news and predicted teams.
Manchester United get back to Premier League action this weekend after the two week international break as they welcome newly promoted Crystal Palace to Old Trafford for Saturday’s early kick-off.
Boss David Moyes will be desperate to get his first home win under his belt having drawn 0-0 with Chelsea during his debut game at Old Trafford last month. The champions sit on four points after losing 1-0 to Liverpool last time out so they will be keen to get their title defence back on track this weekend.
Moyes made a late move to bring Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini to United on transfer deadline day to end a frustrating summer in the transfer market on a high note. The Belgian was taken to Goodison Park by Moyes and went on to become a huge success on Merseyside, so will hope to get an early chance to impress at his new club on Saturday.
While United may have been relatively quiet in the market this summer, the same can not be said of Palace with Ian Holloway bringing in 16 new faces this summer.
The Eagles picked up there first win of the new season with a 3-1 win over Sunderland last time out so they should be heading to Old Trafford full of confidence.
Team News
Marouane Fellaini is expected to come straight into the United starting eleven following his move from Everton with Tom Cleverley likely to make way.
Wayne Rooney was ruled out of England’s World Cup qualifying double-header with a head injury which will also keep him out of the Palace match this weekend.
Rooney’s injury could open the door for Shinji Kagawa, who criticised Moyes for leaving him out of the squad to face Liverpool before the international break, although the Japanese midfielder is expected to once again miss out on a starting spot.
Right back Rafael remains sidelined with a hamstring strain and Phil Jones is also nursing a problem so Chris Smalling may deputise in defence.
Crystal Palace will be without the services of Jonny Williams who picked up an ankle injury while away with Wales in midweek, while Jack Hunt is also missing after breaking his ankle in training.
Adrian Mariappa, Barry Bannan, Cameron Jerome, Jimmy Kebe and Adlene Guedioura are all pushing for starts after making the move on deadline day but Aaron Wilbraham, Owen Garvan, Stephen Dobbie and Florian Marange will not feature after being left out of the 25-man squad.
Likely Lin-ups
Predicted Score
Man Utd 3-0 Crystal Palace: The champions will have far too much firepower for the Eagles to cope with at Old Trafford, even without Wayne Rooney.
