Moyes Steps Up Interest In £30m-Rated Spanish Midfielder
David Moyes has renewed his interest in Athletico Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera and will send scouts to watch the Spaniard next week, according to reports.
Despite the summer transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip in the newspapers, so we’ll keep you up to date on all the latest transfer news. Today, Manchester United are back in for Ander Herrera.
David Moyes has renewed his interest in Athletico Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera and will send scouts to watch the Spaniard next week, according to the Telegraph.
The Premier League champions were heavily linked with a move for the 24-year-old during the summer but were unable to complete a deal on transfer deadline day with David Moyes said to be unwilling to match the players £30.5m buy-out fee while the complex nature of Herrera’s contract was also understood to have caused problems so late in the window.
It seems Moyes needed further proof that the talented midfielder was ready to command a regular first team place at Old Trafford before he was willing to spend such a large figure as the Telegraph claim the United boss is ready to renew his interest when the transfer window re-opens in January and will continue to monitor the players progress over the coming weeks – starting with Bilbao’s game against Granada on Monday.
United ended up signing Marouane Fellaini from Everton on deadline day but Moyes admitted last week after their 4-1 defeat to rivals Man City that he needed further additions to his squad, and the newspaper suggests an attacking midfielder and left-back are his priority with Herrera and Leighton Baines his top targets.
