Arsenal take on Italian giants Napoli on Tuesday night at the Emirates in their second Champions League group stage game.
Ahead of the clash, boss Arsene Wenger has been speaking this afternoon at his pre-match press conference and gave Arsenal.com a team news and injury update.
The positive news is that Tomas Rosicky is now back in the squad and available for selection after returning from a thigh injury. The Czech midfielder has missed the last month after picking up the problem while away on international duty but he returned to full training on Sunday and Wenger confirmed he’s in contention tomorrow.
There were reports on Monday morning that midfielder Jack Wilshere was set to miss the game after picking up an ankle problem during Saturday’s 2-1 win over Swansea City. However, the boss appeared to dismiss those fears after confirming that there were no fresh injuries from the weekend.
Here is what Wenger told the clubs official website:
From Saturday’s squad everybody is available. Rosicky is back into the squad for tomorrow and is available again. He has recovered from his hamstring injury.
on having Rosicky back…
He can play in all the offensive positions and I’m very happy that he’s back because he is very influential in our game. I haven’t decided who will start and who will not start. But I’m very happy that he’s back in the squad.
With Lukas Podolski, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Santi Cazorla and Yaya Sanogo all out, Arsenal have been lacking in options in the attacking midfield positions over recent games so Rosicky’s return is a timely one.
He may not be fit enough to start but he’ll almost certainly get some minutes under his belt and he’ll have given the squad a huge boost heading into what could be a vital game in Group F.
