Spurs Handed Injury Boost As Paulinho, Vertonghen + Sandro All Return To Action
Spurs have been handed a quadruple injury boost with Kaboul, Paulinho, Sandro and Vertonghen all playing in a behind closed doors friendly against West Ham.
Tottenham have been handed a quadruple injury boost today with Younes Kaboul, Paulinho, Sandro and Jan Vertonghen all returning to action in a behind closed doors friendly against West Ham on Thursday.
The four players have been on the sidelines in recent weeks due to a variety of injuries which has limited new boss Tim Sherwood’s options. However, the young coach has been given a major boost after they all lined-up against the Hammers this afternoon.
Paulinho has been out for almost a month after picking up an ankle injury following an x-rated tackle from Stoke’s Charlie Adam back in late December, but he came through 60 minutes unscathed today and even got himself on the score-sheet during a 3-0 win with youngster Harry Kane bagging a brace.
Kaboul hasn’t featured since November due to an on-going thigh problem while fellow centre-back Vertonghen has been out for almost seven weeks with an ankle injury, but the pair stepped up their comebacks by playing 60 minutes today.
Brazilian midfielder Sandro also lasted the first half as he continued his rehabilitation following a calf injury that he picked up during Tottenham’s 5-0 hammering by Liverpool.
Spurs have coped well in their absence, winning six of their last eight matches in all competitions, but the return of four of their key players will be a welcome bonus to Sherwood and they could now be in contention to face free-scoring Manchester City who come to White Hart Lane next Wednesday.
