Tottenham Hotspur entertain Everton on Sunday afternoon in a vital top-four clash at White Hart Lane.
Ahead of the game, boss Tim Sherwood has been speaking to the media on Friday afternoon and gave TottenhamHotspur.com a team news and injury update including the latest on the fitness of Andros Townsend, Mousa Dembele, Vlad Chiriches, Sandro and Erik Lamela.
The good news for Spurs is that Townsend is back in the squad after missing the last seven weeks with a hamstring strain suffered against Liverpool back in mid-December, while midfielder Dembele is also back in contention after missing last weeks draw at Hull with an ankle problem.
However, Sherwood confirmed that centre-back Chiriches remains out with a back problem and he joins long-term absentees Sandro (calf) and Lamela (thigh) on the sidelines.
The Spurs boss told the clubs official website:
“Andros and Mousa are both in contention.
“He’s [Townsend] done enough training now that we can be confident he can be back in the squad.
“Andros can turn a game in an instant, so it’s great to have him back.”
“On the injury front, it’s just Vlad, Sandro and Erik missing from the squad. Vlad and Erik both have niggles and we’re assessing how long they will be out.”
Tottenham head into the game sitting one point behind Everton in sixth place in the Premier League table and with Liverpool a further two points clear in fourth, this game could prove to be pivotal in the race for Champions League qualification this season.
