Manchester United entertain fierce rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon looking to keep alive their faint hopes of finishing in the top four.
Ahead of the game, David Moyes has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference and gave ManUtd.com a team news and injury update.
The United boss confirmed that winger Nani has returned to full training after suffering a serious hamstring injury against Newcastle on the 7th December. Having sat out the clubs last 19 fixtures, the Portuguese attacker is now back in contention and could even be in the squad to face Liverpool this weekend.
Moyes also revealed that right-back Rafael, centre-back Jonny Evans and striker Javier Hernandez have a chance to feature against the Merseysiders after recovering from their respective injuries.
He told the United website:
“Nani is back. He had a really bad hamstring injury. But he is back and has trained. Hopefully we get him up to speed very quickly,” the boss said.
“Rafael, Javier Hernandez and Jonny Evans are all coming along. They all have a chance of playing on Sunday.”
United head into the weekend fixtures sitting sixth in the Premier League table after last weeks 3-0 win away at West Brom but they still remain well off the pace for a top four finish, while second-placed Liverpool hold a commanding 11 lead over the defending champions, so Moyes will be desperate to cut that deficit with three points on Sunday.
