Cavani ‘Ready To Talk’ About Potential £60m Move After Blanc Bust-up
Edinson Cavani is ready to hold talks with Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchetser City over a potential £60m summer move after falling out with Laurent Blanc
As we approach the start of the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Edinson Cavani is tipped to move to the Premier League.
Edinson Cavani is ready to hold talks with Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchetser City over a potential £60m summer move after falling out with Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc, according to the Mirror.
The South American only moved to PSG last summer from Italian outfit Napoli and despite spending the majority of his time out on the wing, he’s still managed to score 22 goals in his 37 appearances so far.
However, the Mirror claim that Cavani feels undervalued at the Parc des Prince and is now ready to make the move to England after a bust-up with boss Laurent Blanc as he feels it would suit his style of play. These allegations come just weeks after the striker admitted he was frustrated at having to play out of position to accommodate for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and revealed that he plans to sit down with PSG officials at the end of the season to resolve his future.
It seems the 27-year-old is not short of offers in the Premier League with an unnamed source – who claims to be close friends with the striker – telling the newspaper that the player is aware of interest from Chelsea, United and City and is ready to open talks with the trio about a potential switch this summer. Although the ‘source’ hints that United could be regarded as the slight favourites as they have shown the most serious interest so far.
“Edinson believes he will be a perfect fit in England. He knows that United, Manchester City and Chelsea are all interested and would be happy to talk to any of them. But he also knows United seem the most keen and that is a factor.” a source is quoted as saying by the Mirror.
Obviously anything that’s said by an unnamed ‘source’ should be taken with a pinch of salt, but there is rarely smoke without fire so it seems Cavani could be unsettled and eyeing a move to England this summer.
The Mirror claim that while PSG don’t want to lose Cavani, they will listen to serious offers and United chiefs are ready to test their resolve by tabling a British record £60m offer at the end of the season. Such a bid may prove difficult for the Ligue 1 champions to turn down, particularly now that FIFA have made it clear they will enforce their Financial Fair Play laws with significant fines and other penalties.
It’s not clear whether the likes of Chelsea and City would be willing to match United’s offer but it would represent a major coup if the deposed champions were able to pull this off and lure Cavani to Old Trafford this summer.
It’s been a turbulent year at United that’s seen them go from winning the Premier League under Sir Alex Ferguson to currently sitting seventh in the table and without a full-time manager following the sacking of David Moyes last week. The club are expected to be heavily active in the transfer market this summer and while the lack of Champions League football on offer may prevent them signing some of the world’s top names, the newspaper suggests that Cavani isn’t concerned as he feels the club will be back at the top in 12 months time.
It’s certainly gearing up to be an interesting few months and Cavani looks like he’s going to be one of the transfer sagas of the summer, so we’ll have to keep our eye on things and see how they develop.
