Mourinho Lining-Up €18m Bid For Liverpool & Man Utd Target
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is lining-up an €18m bid for Manchester United and Liverpool target Christoph Kramer this January, according to reports.
The summer transfer window may be closed but managers are already thinking ahead to future transfer windows so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Chelsea are ready to make a bid for Christoph Kramer.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is lining-up an €18m bid for Manchester United and Liverpool target Christoph Kramer this January, according to reports.
Kramer caught the eye with some impressive substitute appearances at the World Cup and he featured in the final for Germany against Argentina before being forced off with concussion following a nasty blow to the head.
The 23-year-old earned his place in Joachim Low’s 23-man squad for Brazil after playing a key role in helping Borussia Monchengladbach finish in fifth place in the Bundesliga table last season and he’s continued to impress this term.
His excellent form has attracted interest from some of Europe’s top clubs with Liverpool and Manchester United reportedly keeping a close eye on his progress and the defensive midfielder is understood to be keen on plying his trade in England.
Louis van Gaal still has funds to spend despite his record outlay in the summer and a long-term replacement for 33-year-old Michael Carrick is needed, and Kramer would be an astute purchase for the Red Devils if they could lure him to Old Trafford.
Brendan Rodgers is also understood to be on the look-out for another defensive-minded midfielder as doubts continue over the future of Lucas Leiva while skipper Steven Gerrard is also coming towards the end of his illustrious career at Anfield.
But it seems the duo will now face stiff competition for Kramers signature as the Express are reporting that Chelsea have now entered the race and Jose Mourinho is believed to be lining-up an €18m (£14m) offer this January.
The Blues have made a sensational start to the new season but with John Obi Mikel’s future hanging in the balance, it appears Mourinho is on the look-out for potential replacements and the German international is on his radar.

However, any chance of a move to the Premier League in January could be scuppered due to the fact that Kramer is currently on a two-year loan at Monchengladbach from Bayer Leverkusen. His parent club may have been open to breaking the loan and cashing in, but Monchengladbach are likely to hold them to their two-year agreement, so any potential deal for Kramer may have to wait until the summer.
