Swansea vs Liverpool: Preview, Team News, Likely Line-Ups, Prediction & Betting
Liverpool take on Swansea at the Liberty Stadium this evening. Here’s a preview with team news, line-ups, predicted score and betting tips for the game.
Liverpool will be looking to close in on the top four when they take on Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Monday night.
The Reds are now five points adrift off fourth-placed Manchester United following their win over Tottenham on Sunday afternoon so they need a win tonight to close the gap and stay in touch with their fellow Champions League hopefuls.
Brendan Rodgers men should be confident of doing so as they head into the game off the back of an impressive run that’s seen them beat the likes of Tottenham, Man City and Southampton in recent weeks during what’s been an unbeaten start to 2015.
However, Swansea showed their quality after coming from behind to beat Man Utd in their last home game and Garry Monk will be looking for a win to see his side move up to eighth in the Premier League table and stay well on course to surpassing their record points tally of 47 this season.
Team news
Liverpool welcome Steven Gerrard back in to the squad after he recovered from a hamstring injury, but the skipper may have to make do with a place on the bench as he’ll be lacking in match fitness after missing the last seven games.
Joe Allen is also back in contention after overcoming a minor hip injury that kept him out of last weekend’s draw with Blackburn while Martin Skrtel is expected to play despite being forced off following a nasty fall last week.
Swansea are sweating on the fitness of striker Bafetimbi Gomis but he should shake-off illness to start up front.
Centre-back Kyle Bartley remains out with a long-term knee injury.
Likely Line-Ups
Predicted Score
Swansea 1-2 Liverpool: The Swans can be a dangerous side at home but Liverpool are in excellent form in the league and Rodgers has a superb record against his former side, so I can see the Merseysiders edging this one to close the gap on the top four.
Betting Tips
Liverpool are the favourites to win the game at evens but my predicted score of 2-1 on offer at 8/1. I also fancy Philippe Coutinho to open the scoring at odds of 15/2 and if we combine that with a 2-1 away win then we get very tempting odds of 35/1. Surely that’s got to be worth a couple of quid!?
