Man Utd Target Pushing For Arsenal Move After Gunners Table £43m Offer
Manchester United target Gonzalo Higuain is pushing for a move to Arsenal after the North Londoners tabled a £43.3m offer to Napoli, according to reports
With the summer transfer window finally open for business, managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads ahead of next season so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Gonzalo Higuain is pushing for a move to Arsenal….
Manchester United target Gonzalo Higuain is pushing for a move to Arsenal after the North Londoners tabled a £43.3m offer to Napoli, according to the Metro.
Higuain moved to Naples from Real Madrid in 2013 and has continued to prove himself as one of the most lethal strikers in European football after scoring 29 goals in all competitions last season.
However, the Argentinean international has been tipped for a move this summer after Napoli failed to qualify for the Champions League and the striker has been linked with a two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.
Arsenal were the first to be credited with an interest when Italian outlet La Gazzetta Dello Sport claimed last month that the Gunners were lining-up an offer for the striker while the Metro then reported that Manchester United had joined the chase for his signature.
It appeared that Arsenal had stolen a march on United when the Daily Star claimed yesterday that Arsene Wenger had tabled a huge £43.3m offer for Higuain’s services, only to see the bid knocked back by Napoli.
However, it looks like the striker might be prepared to try and force his way out as the Metro are citing reports coming from Corriere Dello Sport who claim that the 27-year-old is ‘pushing’ for the move to Arsenal following their mega bid.
The newspaper suggests that Higuain has urged his brother – who also works as his agent – to negotiate a move to North London so there does appear to be hope that a deal can be agreed this summer.
I feel that the Gunners are a top striker away from being genuine title challengers and a player of Higuain’s stature could certainly be the difference for Wenger’s men next season if they could manage to lure him to the Emirates.
It remains to be seen whether Higuain will be able to force his way out of Naples but I’ll be interested to see how United respond should the Italians decide to cash in as I wouldn’t be surprised if they stepped up their interest to go head-to-head with Arsenal over his signature.

Robin van Persie is being strongly linked with a move to Fenerbache [via Sky Sports News] so his departure could leave Louis van Gaal with just two senior strikers as Javier Hernandez is also expected to leave, so the Dutch boss has to bring in at least one new forward this summer and Higuain is the caliber of player he should be looking at.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but I think the Argentine would be an excellent signing for either Arsenal or United and I’d love to see him playing in the Premier League next season.
