Real Madrid Accept Arsenal’s £48m Bid For Karim Benzema
Some exciting news for Arsenal fans as talkSPORT are reporting this afternoon that Real Madrid have accepted a £48m bid from Arsenal for Karim Benzema.
With the summer transfer window approaching it’s climax, managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the new season so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, more news on Arsenal’s pursuit of Karim Benzema….
Some potentially exciting news for Arsenal fans as talkSPORT are reporting this afternoon that Real Madrid have accepted a £48m bid from Arsenal for Karim Benzema.
We’ve been strongly linked with the French international this summer with Spanish paper AS one of several media outlets who’ve claimed in recent weeks that Arsene Wenger was gearing up to make a late move during the closing stages of the summer window.
Real Madrid have publicly insisted that they would like Benzema to remain at the Bernabeu but his future has still been cast in doubt following the arrival of Rafa Benitez with the former Liverpool boss experimenting with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale through the middle in pre-season.
That would leave Benzema out in the cold and I personally can’t see a player of his quality being happy sitting on the bench – particularly with a home European championship coming up next summer – so it’s no surprise that he’s been linked with a move away.
It appears a switch to Arsenal could now be on the cards as talkSPORT are reporting today that a ‘reliable source’ has informed former player and regular pundit Rodney Marsh that Real have now accepted our £48m bid.
Marsh is quoted as saying by talkSPORT:
“I had a phone call from a mate of mine, and he’s been right on many things, and he said that he believes Real Madrid have accepted a bid somewhere in the region of £48million for Benzema from Arsenal.
“In the past this guy has always been right, he’s never been wrong yet, so we’ll have to wait and see.”
As Marsh says, we’ll have to wait and see how much truth there is behind these claims, but he appears confident that his source is usually reliable. The news also comes after Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli was quoted in the Daily Star as saying that Benzema had agreed personal terms over a four-year deal believed to be worth around £6.3m-per-season, so there could be something in this.
Benzema would obviously be a sensational signing for Arsenal if we could pull it off and I think with him leading the line in front of Sanchez, Ozil, Walcott, etc, we’d have a genuine title-winning team.
The 27-year-old is one of the best all-round strikers in world football and with a scoring rate of 214 goals in 449 games throughout his career, he’d certainly bring a huge threat in the final third if he was to move to the Emirates.
