Man Utd Plotting £90m Move For 321 Goal Super-Star
Manchester United are plotting a £90m move for Cristiano Ronaldo amid rumours the Portuguese super-star is ready to leave Real Madrid next summer.
With the summer transfer window now closed for business, it’s time to start looking at those deals that failed to get over the line and those which are being lined-up for the future. Today, Man Utd are linked with Cristiano Ronaldo…
Manchester United are plotting a £90m move for Cristiano Ronaldo amid rumours the Portuguese super-star is ready to leave Real Madrid next summer in search of a new challenge, according to the Mirror.
Ronaldo enjoyed a hugely successful six-year spell at Old Trafford between 2003 – 2009 that saw him win three Premier League titles and the Champions League before sealing a then world record £80m move to Madrid.
The Portuguese international has gone on to develop into arguably the greatest player on the planet having plundered an incredible 321 goals in just 305 games during his time at the Bernabeu, leading to consecutive Ballon d’Or awards in 2013 and 2014.
However, it looks like Ronaldo could be ready to call time on his career in Spain with the Mirror reporting that the attacker is ready for a new challenge next summer and United are understood to be desperate to lure him back to England.
The Red Devils won’t be the only club in the race though as the report claims that PSG will also make their move if the 30-year-old makes it clear he’s ready to leave Madrid with the Ligue 1 champions ready to pay whatever it takes to land him.
Ronaldo will have just two-years remaining on his contract at the end of the current campaign and the newspaper suggests that Madrid will demand £90m for his signature – although they say sources close to the player believe a more realistic figure would be nearer £70m given Ronaldo will turn 31 in February.
Both United and PSG have the financial muscle to pay the £90m Madrid are understood to want so it would be no surprise if that kind of money was paid for the super-star next summer, while both clubs could also match his £15m-a-year wage demands.
However, despite his close ties with United, the Mirror claim that Ronaldo would favour a move to Paris if he decides to move on next summer. It remains to be seen how much truth there is behind that claim but obviously it would come as a huge blow to United if true.
Re-signing Ronaldo would be a huge statement of intent from United and fans would no doubt love to see their former No.7 back back at the club to see-out the rest of his career at Old Trafford. Even rival fans would like to see him back in England as he’d be a major addition to the Premier League.

It looks as though next summer is going to be a pivotal one for Ronaldo where he’ll either sign an extension with Madrid or part company with the Spaniard’s while his value is still high. No doubt United will be heading the queue of interested parties but PSG are going to provide stiff competition for his signature.
