Liverpool moved level on points with seventh-placed Southampton after beating AFC Bournemouth 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds broke the deadlock shortly before half time when Roberto Firmino was on hand to poke home in to an empty net after Daniel Sturridge had seen his cheeky back heel well saved by Artur Boruc in the 41st minute.
The visitors doubled their lead and took control of the game just four minutes later as Sturridge headed home from a Jordon Ibe free-kick in first half stoppage time to make it 0-2.
Liverpool controlled things after the break and while Bournemouth pulled one back right at the death as Joshua King fired past Danny Ward three minutes in to second half stoppage, the Merseysiders held on to secure another three points.
The win sees Liverpool move level on points with seventh-placed Southampton but they remain eight points adrift of the top four with six games left to play.
