With the 2016 European Championships well underway, the guys at Physical Gold – a leading UK gold dealer – have created this interesting infographic which looks at the links between Euro 2016 and precious metals such as gold and silver.
On the face of it, you may not think there would be many overlaps, however, dig a little deeper and you’ll realise football and gold/silver are interconnected in many ways. The most obvious example is the trophy which England are fighting for this summer – the Henri Delaunay trophy – which is made from sterling silver, while there is also other links such as the introduction of ‘golden goals’ to the tournament in 1996, the ‘golden boot’ and the ‘golden glove’.
