The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Julian Draxler….
Jose Mourinho is eyeing a swoop for Wolfsburg attacker Julian Draxler as he continues to revamp the Manchester United squad this summer, according to Bild via the Metro.
Mourinho was installed as Louis van Gaal’s successor as United manager last month and has already been active in the transfer market having splashed out on Ivory Coast defender Eric Bailly from Villarreal.
However, the Portuguese coach is expected to bring in a number of further players over the coming weeks as he looks to put his own stamp on the squad and attack is likely to be an area of concern after United only managed to score 49 league goals last season.
Several players have been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks but the Metro are citing a report coming from German outlet Bild that claim Mourinho is now eyeing a move for Wolfsburg attacking midfielder Julian Draxler.
The 22-year-old only moved to the Volkswagen Arena just last year after spending 14 years at Schalke where he progressed through the youth system before emerging as one of Europe’s hottest properties when he broke in to the first team in 2011.
Draxler enjoyed a solid first season at Wolfsburg having scored 9 times and provided 8 assists in his 35 appearances in all competitions but it looks as though the Bundesliga club could now be bracing themselves for interest from United.
The youngster is predominantly played as a central attacking midfielder but he’s also capable of playing out wide on either wing so Draxler would give Mourinho plenty of options if he was to make the move to Old Trafford.
No possible transfer fee is mentioned in the report but you’d think Wolfsburg would want to make a profit on the £25.5m they paid Schalke 12 months ago – which shouldn’t be a problem for a club with United’s vast financial power.

We’ll have to wait and see if Mourinho decides to step-up his interest with a formal offer but any potential deal will have to wait as Draxler is currently away on international duty with Germany at Euro 2016 where he’s started in each of their opening two games.
