Moussa Sissoko has been posing with his new shirt after completing a £30m move to Tottenham Hotspur from Newcastle United just minutes before the transfer window closed.
It’s been a turbulent day for Sissoko as he was given permission to leave the French national team training camp to travel to England and secure a move away from St James’ Park amid interest from Everton and Tottenham.
After Tottenham had seen their £25m offer rejected by Newcastle on Wednesday morning, it looked like Everton were in pole position to sign the midfielder after meeting the Magpies £30m asking price [source: BBC].
Sissoko was due to catch a private jet to Merseyside to undergo his medical and complete his proposed move to Goodison Park but Tottenham hijacked the deal after matching Everton’s £30m bid and Sissoko pulled out of the move to Everton [source: Mirror].
The midfielder was keen to join Spurs and play in the Champions League and he soon agreed terms over a five-year deal after successfully completed his medical examinations.
Sissoko took to Twitter to confirm that his move went through shortly before the 11pm deadline with the midfielder sharing a photo of him posing with the Tottenham shirt.

Sissoko had been tipped to leave Newcastle all summer following their relegation to the Championship and he attracted plenty of interest after putting in some excellent displays at Euro 2016.
The 26-year-old is a versatile midfielder as he’s capable of playing in a central position or out wide so he’ll give Mauricio Pochettino plenty of options while his vast experience in the Premier League will also be a huge asset for the north Londoners.
*update* Tottenham have now officially confirmed that Sissoko has joined the club:
