Liverpool have been handed a huge injury concern ahead of their Premier League clash with Leicester City after Sadio Mane was forced off with a knock while away on international duty.
Senegal have already qualified for the African Cup of Nations in Gabon this coming January but Mane was still selected to start in their latest qualifier against Namibia on Saturday night.
However, the Liverpool attacker was unable to complete the fully ninety minutes after being forced off in the 66th minute having picked-up a knock as Senegal went on to win the game 2-0 in Dakar.
At this stage it’s not know for certain whether Mane’s withdrawal was precautionary or if the injury is something more severe but I’m sure Jurgen Klopp will be praying it’s nothing serious as it would be a huge blow if the attacker was ruled out for any length of time.
The 24-year-old has been excellent since moving to Anfield in a big-money move from Southampton this summer after scoring a stunner on his debut against Arsenal before putting in another Man of the Match performance during a 5-0 League Cup win over Burton Albion.
We’ll have to await further news as I’m sure Mane will undergo further tests over the coming days to determine the full extent of the injury but Klopp will be desperate for him to be passed fit for next Saturday’s clash with Leicester City.
