Man City Team News: Guardiola Confirms Double Injury Boost Ahead Of Man Utd Clash

Pep Guardiola has confirmed a double injury boost after offering a team news update ahead of Manchester City’s clash with Manchester United tomorrow.

Manchester City will look to continue their 100% start to the new Premier League season when they take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

Ahead of the game, Pep Guardiola has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this morning and he’s given ManCity.com a team news and injury update.

The Spanish coach was pleased to confirm that Claudio Bravo is available for selection after recovering from a minor leg injury and could therefore make his debut following his move from Barcelona last month.

Bravo has been able to train for the past two days after returning from international duty on Wednesday so the Chilean goalkeeper could be set to line-up against United tomorrow lunchtime.

In a double boost, it appears Leroy Sane could also make his first appearance since joining from Schalke this summer after recovering from a hamstring injury which has kept him out of the first three games of the season.

Guardiola also revealed that Ilkay Gundogan is getting closer to full fitness as he looks to make his debut having overcome a niggling knee injury that he’s had since his days with previous club Borussia Dortmund – although the midfielder isn’t expected to start tomorrow.

Gundogan will therefore remain on the sidelines with Vincent Kompany as Guardiola says that while the City skipper is back in training, he’s not prepared to rush him back and is waiting on blood test results to make sure he’s 100% fit before considering him for selection.

Guardiola told the clubs website:

“Claudio is OK, he had a little bit of a problem in his leg but he’s trained the last two days. Sane is in terms of his condition, is the best player – Gundogan is much better.

“Bravo is fit and ready – he’s 32, 33 years old – he has experience. No problem with that. He has to save the goals.

“Kompany is training but we are waiting for the blood test to be sure. He’s fit but we don’t want to take too much risk because of what happened last season. We will be sure when he comes back he is 100%.”

BACK MAN CITY TO WIN AT 10/1 OR UNITED AT 7/1

Man City have started the season well having recorded victories over Sunderland, Stoke City and West Ham but they’ll face a United side that have also registered three successive wins so something has to give tomorrow.
