By on November 11, 2016

Liverpool attacker Philippe Coutinho continued his fine form for both club and country after scoring a stunner as Brazil thrashed Argentina 3-0 in their World Cup qualifier last night.

Coutinho has been starring for the Merseysiders this season to help Jurgen Klopp’s side mount a serious title challenge and the 24-year-old opened the scoring for Brazil last night with a trademark stunner from the edge of the area in the 25th minute.

Barcelona superstar Neymar then beat the offside trap to race clear and cooly slot home the second shortly before half-time to give the Samba Boys a 2-0 lead at the break. Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho then fired home the third in the 58th minute to seal a commanding 3-0 victory for the hosts.

The victory ensures Brazil remain top of their World Cup qualifying group while Argentina are eight points adrift in sixth – a full eight points behind the leaders.
