Chelsea Team News: Conte Confirms Injury Boost But Duo To Miss Wolves Clash
Antonio Conte has confirmed an injury boost but two key men will sit out tomorrow’s FA Cup clash with Wolves at Molineux.
Chelsea will be looking to book their place in the quarter finals of the FA Cup when we take on Wolves at Molineux on Saturday evening.
Ahead of the game, Antonio Conte has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s given reporters a team news and injury update.
The Blues boss confirmed an injury boost with the news that John Terry has been passed fit and is available for selection this weekend after recovering from an ankle injury.
The skipper has been carrying the knock in recent weeks and missed last weekend’s Premier League draw at Burnley but he’s now fully fit and could feature at Wolves tomorrow.
Terry’s return comes at the perfect time as Conte has revealed that he’ll take the opportunity to give David Luiz a rest this weekend so Terry should come in to the back three.
The Brazilian international has been nursing a knee problem ever since the Manchester City game at the start of December and while the injury is now a lot better, Luiz is still feeling pain so Conte will rest him against Wolves.
Marcos Alonso has also been carrying an ankle injury in recent weeks so the Chelsea boss has also confirmed the Spanish full-back will be given a breather this weekend.
Conte is expected to freshen things up meaning the likes of Kurt Zouma, Nathan Ake, Cesc Fabregas, Willian and Michy Batshuayi are pushing for game time.
