Liverpool Tipped To Hold Talks With £89m Man Utd Target
Dean Saunders has tipped Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann to hold talks with Liverpool if the Atletico Madrid hitman opts for a move to England
Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool are linked with Antoine Griezmann….
Dean Saunders has tipped Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann to hold talks with Liverpool if the Atletico Madrid hitman opts for a move to England this summer, according to a report in the Mirror.
Liverpool sealed fourth place in the Premier League table with a 3-0 win over Middlesbrough on Sunday which books their place in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League next season.
Jurgen Klopp has already suggested that being in Europe’s elite competition will help him attract big-name players and it appears Saunders has an ambitious target in mind for his former club.
Saunders claims that Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann will be keen to hold talks with Liverpool about a possible move to Anfield if he decides to come to the Premier League this summer.
The former Wales striker is quoted as saying by the Mirror:
“I mentioned Griezmann and Liverpool will be on his list now”,
“He will have a conversation with them if he’s coming to England”,
Klopp is expected to be in the market for a top class striker this summer with Daniel Sturridge’s future in serious doubt but it would be a sensational coup if Liverpool could land a player like Griezmann.
The French international has become one of the best players on the planet in recent years and he finished the campaign with 26 goals and 12 assists to him name.
The 26-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United with The Sun reporting earlier this month that Griezmann had agreed personal terms worth £280,000-a-week ahead of a potential £89m switch to Old Trafford.
Personally, I don’t think there’s any chance Liverpool could compete with United for those wages while the Merseysiders may also struggle to meet his reported £89m asking price.

Obviously Greizmann would be welcomed with open arms at Anfield but I think Klopp will have more realistic targets in mind as United are one of the few clubs who could afford the Frenchman if he decides to quit Atletico this summer.
