Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are in talks to sign Gareth Bale…
Manchester United and Real Madrid have held preliminary talks over a sensational £100m deal for Gareth Bale with the European giants willing to cash-in this summer, according to the Independent.
Bale made his name in the Premier League during a six-year spell with Tottenham where he developed in to one of the best attackers in the world before sealing an £86m move to Madrid in the summer of 2013.
The Welsh international has continued to forge a reputation as one of the best players on the planet during his time in Spain having scored 67 goals and provided 51 assists in his 149 appearances so far.
However, Bale has struggled this season with injuries and has spent the last six weeks out with a calf injury that he suffered during the defeat to Barcelona back in April, and it’s cost him a place in tonight’s starting eleven for the Champions League final with Isco keeping his place in Zinedine Zidane’s side.
The Independent claim that influential Madrid board members now feel that the team is more cohesive without Bale and are prepared to cash-in on the attacker this summer.
The newspaper says sources in Madrid and Manchester have confirmed that the La Liga giants are ready to do business with United and the subject of Bale’s sale has already been discussed between the two clubs.
The Mirror carried a report from Diario Gol last month that claimed Bale has an ‘unwritten agreement’ with Jose Mourinho that he will move to Old Trafford is he leaves Madrid so it looks like a sensational deal could be on the cards.
Obviously the 27-year-old won’t come cheap and the Independent suggest Madrid are demanding £100m in order to help fund their move for either Eden Hazard or Kylian Mbappe, but United are one of the few clubs who could afford that sort of fee.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but this would clearly be a major coup if United could pull it off as Bale is one of the best attackers in the world, despite his frustrating campaign.

The Welsh wizard is capable of playing anywhere across the attacking positions and he’d add some much-needed creativity to Mourinho’s side so I’m sure United fans are praying this is one deal that comes off this summer.
