Liverpool Team News: Klopp Confirms Injury Boost + Coutinho Update
Jurgen Klopp has confirmed an injury boost ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Crystal Palace while he’s also offered an update on Philippe Coutinho
Liverpool will look to secure their first win of the new Premier League campaign when they welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s given reporters a team news and injury update.
The German coach confirmed a big boost with the news that Daniel Sturridge is expected to be fit and available for selection this weekend after recovering from a thigh injury.
The striker suffered the problem while scoring against Bayern Munich during a pre-season friendly and he was forced to miss the 3-3 draw with Watford at Vicarage Road last Saturday.
However, Sturridge has made a swift recovery and Klopp seems confident the England international will be able to return to the squad this weekend after taking part in full training yesterday.
There wasn’t such positive news regarding Coutinho as the Brazilian international is still unavailable for selection as he continues to nurse an apparent back injury.
Coutinho missed the opening draw at Watford after handing in a transfer request just 24 hours before the game as the playmaker looks to try and push through a move to Barcelona.
There have been reports that Coutinho has been causing problems behind the scenes and is supposedly refusing to play for Liverpool again, however, Klopp insists he has no complaints over the player’s attitude.
The Reds boss told reporters:
Jürgen Klopp: "Daniel, yes I would say so (is available). He was involved in the full session yesterday. Coutinho still hasn't trained yet."

Liverpool will also be without Adam Lallana as the midfielder continues to recover from a thigh injury while Nathaniel Clyne is also unavailable due to a hamstring problem so Trent Alexander-Arnold should once again start at right-back.
