International Star Wants To Join Man Utd Despite Tottenham Agreeing £23m Deal
Serge Aurier wants to join Manchester United despite the right-back agreeing terms with Tottenham ahead of a £23m move from Paris Saint-Germain
Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the final days of the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Serge Aurier’s future…
Serge Aurier wants to join Manchester United despite the right-back agreeing terms with Tottenham ahead of a £23m move from Paris Saint-Germain, according to a report in the Daily Star.
Aurier has been looking for a way out of the Parc des Princes following the arrival of Dani Alves on a free transfer from Juventus earlier in the summer.
The Ivory Coast international attracted plenty interest from the Premier League with The Sun reporting earlier this month that Chelsea had joined Tottenham and Man Utd in the race for his signature.
Spurs soon emerged as the front-runners and the Daily Star claim the full-back has completed his medical and agreed terms over a move to north London after a £23m deal was struck with PSG.
The proposed deal is being held up as Aurier’s lawyers are due to present evidence to the Home Office today in relation to his assault conviction as they look to secure a UK work permit.
The outcome of the hearing is due to be revealed later today and Tottenham are expecting to wrap-up the £23m deal once Aurier is granted his visa.
Mauricio Pochettino has been desperately trying to sign a new right-back to replace Kyle Walker following his move to Manchester City and Aurier has emerged as the prime target.
However, there could be a late snag as the Daily Star are citing a report from SFR Sport that claims the 24-year-old defender would prefer to join Man Utd over Tottenham.
The newspaper says Jose Mourinho made an offer for Aurier earlier this month but Spurs trumped them by tabling a higher bid and it remains to be seen whether United will come back to match the north Londoners deal.
Even if they did, the report claims Aurier’s agent Pini Zavahi – who is also a PSG adviser – is close with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy which has tipped the deal in Tottenham’s favour.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop as there is still time for United to try and hijack the deal but for now it looks as though Spurs are in pole position to secure Aurier’s signature before the window slams shut on Thursday night.
