Everton vs Tottenham Preview, Team News, Line-ups, Betting Tips & Prediction

Tottenham take on Everton at Goddison Park on Saturday. Here is a preview with team news, line-ups, betting tips and predicted score

Goodison Park

Tottenham will be looking to get back to winning ways following a mixed start to the new season when they take on Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.

After beating Newcastle at St James’ Park on the opening weekend, Spurs have picked up just one point from their last two games against Chelsea and Burnley at their adopted Wembley home.

Mauricio Pochettino has been keen to play down talk of a ‘Wembley hoodoo’ but no doubt it will be a concern so the Tottenham boss will be desperate to pick up some important points on the road.

Everton has had a mixed start to the new season themselves after matching Tottenham’s record of one win, one draw and a defeat from their opening three games.

The Toffees have been in the news for the wrong reasons this week after Wayne Rooney was arrested for drink-driving so Ronald Koeman will be looking to make the headlines for their football this weekend.

Team news

Spurs have been handed a boost with the news that Kieran Trippier is fit after recovering from a minor ankle injury so he should start at right-back tomorrow.

Trippier’s availability means recent signing Serge Aurier may have to make do with a place on the bench after completing his move from PSG last week.

Victor Wanyama has been ruled out with a knee injury so Eric Dier should continue in midfield meaning Davinson Sanchez could make his full debut in defence if Pochettino goes with three at the back.

Danny Rose, Erik Lamela and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou all remain out with long-term injuries.

Despite his drink-driving charge and troubles in his private life, Koeman has confirmed that Rooney will feature against Spurs tomorrow so the former England striker should retain his place up front.

The clubs record signing Gylfi Sigurdsson is also expected to be handed his full debut after working his way back to full fitness during the international break.

Nikola Vlasic should be included in the squad after joining on deadline day while Jordan Pickford has recovered from a minor thigh injury. Midfielder Davy Klaassen could also be in the squad after shaking off a foot problem.

Likely Line-Ups

Predicted Score

Everton 1-1 Tottenham: Spurs have stuttered at ‘home’ so far this season so the players may be thankful of an away game to try and ease the pressure. However, Everton are no easy task so I’m expecting a close game. The Toffees haven’t beaten Spurs in their last nine league attempts while Tottenham have won just one of their last 10 visits to Goodison Park so I think a draw is the most likely outcome tomorrow.

Betting Tips

Spurs are the narrow 11/10 favourites to win this game with the bookmakers but here are some other bets I like the look of:
