Ligue 1 Star Heaps Praise On Man Utd After Confirming He’s ‘Always Been A Fan’

Paris Saint-Germain star Thomas Meunier has heaped praise on Manchester United after admitting that he’s always been a fan of the Premier League giants.

Meunier has developed in to one of the best right-backs in French football since joining PSG from Club Brugge in the summer of 2016 and he’s now a regular with the Belgian national team having racked-up 17 caps so far.

The 26-year-old’s form led to Serge Aurier joining Tottenham Hotspur this summer but he is still facing a battle with Dani Alves for a starting spot in Unai Emery’s star-studded team this season following his free transfer move from Juventus.

It seems there is one particular team that Meunier would be interested in joining if he does look to leave the Parc des Princes as he’s now revealed himself to be a massive Manchester United fan.

The full-back admitted that he has always been a supporter of the ‘real’ Manchester giants and describes Jose Mourinho as a ‘great manager’ who is in charge of the ‘perfect club’.

Meunier is quoted as saying in a recent interview with SFR Sport [translation via GFFN]:

“I play with PSG on FIFA to play myself upfront otherwise with Manchester. As in Manchester United, the real one, the real one. I have always been a fan of Manchester United. They are back in the Champions League, they have formed a good team this year. I am thinking of Matic, I would have loved him in Paris, he is really an exceptional player. For the rest, they have a great team, a great manager, great fans, its the perfect club.”

Mourinho was tipped to be in the market for a new right-back during the recent transfer window and with Antonio Valencia now approaching the final stages of his career, United are going to need to find a long-term replacement.

Meunier would be an excellent candidate as the Belgian international is coming in to the prime years of his career and is now proving himself to be one of the best full-backs in Europe so I think he’d be a superb signing if United could lure him to Old Trafford one day.
